Jack Heifner What goes around, comes around in Jack Heifner's erotic British comedy seduction... in which six actors play ten characters in a rondelay of sexual conquest. In scene one, a barely-legal rent boy makes a profit off a passing sailor. In scene two, the sailor takes advantage of a handyman looking for love in a club bathroom. Next, the handyman has his way with a spoiled college student. Even if you're unfamiliar with Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde or David Hare's update (Blue Room), the message is clear. In the art of seduction, everyone plays the victim and the culprit eventually. Various gay anthems may entertain you during the set changes but the bottom line is seduction... is a one-trick pony. Even the escalating outlandishness of the pairings (by scene eight, a playwright is seducing a drag queen in a monastery) can't rectify matters. After an hour, audience members audibly sigh with relief when the rent boy returns. The cycle continues, the play has ended, the public is free. Ετικέτες ΘΕΑΤΡΟ (Stage) |
