The Heart is an Orchid

The Heart is like and Orchid,
With care and love it grows.
With sunlight radiating
Beams, of love and light,
It fills the human soul.
With every new leaf,
Throughout the year,
It finally begins to show,
That the orchid will bloom and so,
Shall the heart, to bring love
And light as we know.

Keith Haring: Untitled, AIDS Update

The Keith Haring Foundation was established in 1989 to assist AIDS-related and children's charities.

Haring (1958-1990) was diagnosed with AIDS in 1988. In 1989, he established the Keith Haring Foundation, its mandate being to provide funding and imagery to AIDS organizations and children’s programs, and to expand the audience for Haring’s work through exhibitions, publications and the licensing of his images. Haring enlisted his imagery during the last years of his life to speak about his own illness and generate activism and awareness about AIDS.
